Secular Franciscans

DOES THE LIFE AND SPIRITUALITY OF ST. FRANCIS INSPIRE YOU?

We invite you to consider becoming a member of the Franciscan Order.

Secular Franciscans are members of the Catholic Church, men and women, married and single, living at home and following Christ more deeply through the spirituality of St. Francis of Assisi.

The Franciscan vocation is open to everyone.  Faithful lay people have historically lived and worked in the world and have given rise to our religious community of Franciscan Third Order Regular friars and sisters.

We friars of the Third Order Regular Franciscans at Good Shepherd join with our lay members of the Third Order Secular Franciscans in building up God’s Kingdom through corporal and spiritual works of mercy.  Diocesan priests may also join us as members and co-workers.

Both Secular and Religious Franciscans are authentic Orders of St. Francis within the Catholic Church.  Both are rooted in the heritage of the lay people and both share the same patron saints: St. Louis of France and St. Elizabeth of Hungry.

To learn more about this vocation please come to a gathering of the Order of Franciscans Secular on the first Sunday of each month from 1:30pm to 3:30pm in the Pope St. John XXIII and St. Kateri Tekakwitha Rooms in the Shepherd Center at Good Shepherd Catholic Community on 1000 Tinker Road in Colleyville, Texas.  We invite you to come!  We welcome you!
