Wednesday Morning Scripture Study

The Old Testament and Jesus

Wednesdays:   Beginning September 13 (10 weeks)

10:00 - 11:30 a.m. - Room 2, 3 & 4

Lead by Prof. Jim McGill

Cost:  $20 per person

Christians proclaim that Jesus Christ fulfills the Old Testament.  But what does that mean?  Why and how did a first century community of Jews, who worshiped the God of the Old Testament, see in the life and ministry of Jesus that same God present and active?  The New Testament witness to Jesus does not supersede the Old Testament witness.  Rather the Old Testament is heard anew in Jesus.  This course will explore what the Old Testament has to do with Jesus, how Jesus fulfills the Old Testament and why this is important for our faith life today.

Rediscover this task as explained by Pope Francis in his 2013 Apostolic Exhortation The Joy of the Gospel. Join us as we study this important papal document, which sets forth the seven fundamental “pillars” of Pope Francis’ vision of the “New Evangelization.
