Family Mission Trip - Houston, Texas - Cancelled

It is heartbreaking to announce that we lost our housing for our mission trip, so after much praying our Family Mission Trip is cancelled for the summer of 2020.

This is a truly painful update. Simply, the impact of COVID-19 has created a large number of obstacles related to any trip with groups traveling and housing in local facilities.

Among a number of issues, the most concerning are:

  • Facemasks and 6 ft social distancing requirements by state and local health authorities could be 24/7 on a trip
  • Emergency protocols requiring the ability to quarantine individuals who might get sick (and potentially any group they have interacted with) for 10-14 days.
  • Critical concerns from community partners worried about the arrival of groups from across the U.S. who might be bringing greater harm to their community.

With these issues and many others created by COVID-19, it has become clear that it is not possible to facilitate healthy mission trips traveling into new communities and staying overnight.

As heartbreaking as it is to reset expectations for this summer’s traditional trips, the Holy Spirit has asked us to let go of our plans and preparations.

Trust in God’s presence in the midst of such strange and heavy times and know that HE is still taking care of us and those we would serve. That is my prayer as you read over these words today.

Stay connected to learn of new opportunities in the future.
